And it’s not only craftswomen that we’re looking for – we also want short films (directed by both women and men) that put interesting female characters at their centre. Sadly, we’ve found these are few and far between, but we’re sure the times are-a-changin’ and we want to see a lot more of this work. If you’re not sure what makes the grade, you might want to try holding your film against the Bechdel Test. Finally, we’re really pleased to be introducing a new category this year for women film journalists. Like the craft of filmmaking itself, the number of women working as professional film critics is far surpassed by the number of male voices we’re used to hearing in mainstream media. But UnderWire wants to change that, encouraging women to step up and get their work seen. As Sight & Sound demonstrated in a competition they ran recently, there are a LOT of smart women out there who should have a platform for their work. With the UnderWire award for Best Film Journalist, we hope to see this happen.

Contact: (Helen and Gemma) underwire@underwirefestival.com
http://www.underwirefestival.com/?p=168

SPEAKERS' CORNER: 'The Trailer Festival' 2011Deadline

http://prescienceproductions.weebly.com/1/post/2011/07/speakers-corner-the-trailer-festival-2011deadline.html

http://prescienceproductions.weebly.com/1/post/2011/07/speakers-corner-the-trailer-festival-2011deadline.html#comments

Uncategorized

CLOSING DATE: Wednesday 31 August 2011 The first Festival took place in 2010 and the audience was exclusively industry, including Fox, Disney, Paramount and PBS. Since then the trailers have been in an Online Screening Room where Hollywood managers, producers and distributors can view filmmakers' work. Thus enhancing their client’s Brand Reputation as well as their own.

SPEAKERS' CORNER: Bursaries for International Arts Professionals to attend decibel performing arts showcase - September 2011 Manchester, UK‏

http://prescienceproductions.weebly.com/1/post/2011/04/speakers-corner-bursaries-for-international-arts-professionals-to-attend-decibel-performing-arts-showcase-september-2011-manchester-uk.html

http://prescienceproductions.weebly.com/1/post/2011/04/speakers-corner-bursaries-for-international-arts-professionals-to-attend-decibel-performing-arts-showcase-september-2011-manchester-uk.html#comments

Uncategorized

decibel International Connections Programme, a bursary scheme, managed by Visiting Arts, the programme will provide a small number (8-10) of bursaries for mid-career cultural practitioners to attend the Decibel Performing Arts Showcase and Creative Case for Diversity launch. to this year’s decibel Performing Arts Showcase (September 12 – 16 2011).
